The two new Banksy murals have appeared near the Barbican Centre to mark its opening this week of an exhibition of work by American Graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat – Boom for Real.

Banksy has published an image of the first work – a Ferris wheel – on Instagram and observes ‘Major new Basquiat show opens at the Barbican – a place that is normally very keen to clean any graffiti from its walls.

The City of London Corporation has yet to decide what to do with the murals, which councils often remove as being in breach of the law.
