Session 1: Landscape Art!

Monday 3rd April: – Landscape Art – Learn about foreground, midground and background, create a realistic landscape using charcoal and then a vibrantly coloured whimsical landscape.  There is currently a major exhibition at the Royal Academy “America After the Fall : Painting in the 1930s” which includes wonderful American landscape paintings – click here

Session 2A: French Impressionism

Tuesday 4th April (morning): Impressionism in the sunny South of France – Claude Monet was so inspired by the coastal landscape of Antibes that he produced 40 paintings of it in 4 months – we will see what he so loved, and paint our own version

Session 2B: Celtic Art of the Iron Age

Tuesday 4th April (afternoon): Celtic Art – the Celts lived in Britain during the Iron Age, before the Roman conquest and made beautiful geometric bronze-work and stone carvings, as well as wonderfully patterned manuscripts

Session 3: Pop Art!

Tuesday 11th April: Pop Art!  Learn about the Pop Art Movement which began in Britain in the 1950s and quickly spread to America where it reached its maturity. There is currently a major exhibition of pop art prints at the British Museum – “The American Dream” – click here

Session 4A: David Hockney

Wednesday 12th April (morning): David Hockney inspired art – Hockney is the foremost British painter today, and one of the greatest living painters in the world. He currently has a major exhibition at Tate Britain – the exhibition has broken box office records and is Tate Britain’s most popular exhibition ever! (For exhibition details click here)

Session 4B: Pop Art cupcakes in clay!

Wednesday 12th April (afternoon): Pop Art cupcakes in clay!  Using coiling, slabbing and pinching techniques, we will produce a cup cake shaped box which will be painted and varnished (ready for collection shortly after the session)

Session 5A: Medieval Dragons and Griffins – Harry Potter style!

Thursday 13th April (morning): Medieval dragons, griffins and manuscripts Harry Potter style!

2017 is the 20th anniversary of the publication of The Philosopher’s Stone and the British Library is marking the occasion with an autumn exhibition, opening October 2017  – British Library exhibition details can be found here

Session 5B: Optical Illusion Art!

Thursday 13th April (afternoon): – Optical Illusion Art!

“…. … an optical illusion is something that looks different from what it is:

something that you seem to see but that is not really there”


Age:  Suitable for children aged 5-13

Time and Place:  10.00 am -1.00 pm save for Sessions 2B, 4B and 5B which are 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm.  All sessions at the KidsArt! Studio

Cost:  £35 per session per child payable on booking

What is included:  Art tuition, materials and snacks

Consent:  Booking implies consent to use of your child’s photo and art work on the KidsArt!  website and facebook page unless (in the case of your child’s photo) you stipulate otherwise when booking

Cancellation policy:  We are unable to refund but you may send another child not already booked in your child’s place.
