Painting from Monet’s Meules (Haystacks) series sold at auction for $110.7m in May 2019

Claude Monet (1840 – 1926) lived and painted within a few miles of his home in Giverny in Normandy for over 40 years until his death.  This is part of the Meules series of 25 landscapes in which Monet sought to capture the ever-changing light at different times of day and seasons and in different weather in the French countryside.
