The first edition of Wind in the Willows was published with a frontispiece illustration only.  Later editions, illustrated by Ernest Shepard who had famously illustrated the Winnie the Pooh  series, quickly became more popular.  200 of the first illustrated editions were produced and no. 29, signed by Kenneth Grahame and Ernest Shepard, is offered for sale at The Edinburgh Book Fair at the Radisson Blu Hotel, High Street, Edinburgh from March 24-25.  Priced at £9,500 (Peter Harrington Rare Books).
