May / June 2017 Half Term Art Camp – Highlights!

View highlights of our 2017 May/June Half Term Art Camp, showcasing the work of kids from 5 to 13 in gouache paints, oil and soft pastel.

  • “The kids had a wonderful time …………… and have been inspired to visit the van Gogh museum in Amsterdam over the holidays.”
  • “Thanks for a wonderful lesson.  [I] really enjoyed it!”
  • “They had a lovely time and I love their paintings!”

Animals of Pablo Picasso!

We learned about Picasso and created an animal Picasso style – Picasso was one of the greatest artists of the 20th century and, although his enigmatic paintings can be hard to interpret (and he famously refused to explain), he often used animals as symbols.

Planets, Galaxies and Astronauts

We learned how to paint planets, galaxies and astronauts. (With photos from Hubble and current space missions!)

Ancient Egyptian Art

Instantly recognisable and fascinating for so many reasons – unlike Western art it changed little for 3000 years, colours had meanings quite apart from what was shown in the picture, and the glorious painted works that have come down to us have inspired generations.  We learned about Egyptian art and created an Egyptian style painting.

Vincent van Gogh

van Gogh was one of the greatest painters of all time – we looked at his paintings, learned about his style, and created our own van Gogh inspired artwork.
