Autumn Half-Term (Oct/Nov) 2018

Session 1: Wednesday, 17th October – Graffiti Art!

Wednesday, 17th October:  Graffiti Art!  Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960 – 1988) rocketed to fame in the 1980s as a cultural phenomenon unlike anything the art world had ever seen. We will look at Basquiat’s graffiti-style art inspired by medical text books such as Gray’s Anatomy, and create our own.

Session 2: Thursday, 18th October – Halloween 1 at KidsArt!

Thursday, 18th October:  Halloween 1 at KidsArt!  Come and create a Cubist style Witch face – learn about Picasso and the art style he created, and also the history of Halloween!

Session 3: Friday, 19th October – Pop Art Lichtenstein Style!

Friday, 19th October:  Learn about leading Pop Artist Roy Lichtenstein and create an artwork in his style.  Lichtenstein trail-blazed the American Pop Art movement in the 1960s with his instantly recognisable comic-strip style paintings and onomatopoeic words 

Session 4: Monday, 22nd October – Observational Drawing!

Monday, 22nd October:  You can see it but how do you draw it? Come and learn techniques to hone your drawing and observational skills!

Session 5: Tuesday, 23rd October – Ancient Greeks with Clay!

Tuesday, 23rd October:  Learn about the fascinating art and mythology of Ancient Greece, using clay.  The Ancient Greeks lived around 3500 years ago, and were the most advanced civilization of their world – they gave us the Olympics, democracy, maths, philosophy, trial by jury and really cool mythology!Ancient Greeks in clay!

Session 6: Wednesday, 24th October – Vincent van Gogh with Clay!

Wednesday, 24th October:  Tragic, misunderstood van Gogh poured his feelings into his art and did not live to see his paintings become world-famous – why were his fabulous artworks so disliked in his lifetime?  Come along and find out, and create a piece of artwork Vincent style with clay 

Session 7: Thursday, 25th October – Halloween 2 at KidsArt!

Thursday, 25th October:  Halloween 2 at KidsArt!  learn about foremost British ceramicist Kate Malone and create Halloween pumpkins in her style using oil pastel and paint! 

Session 8: Friday, 26th October – Picasso – 20th Century Giant!

Friday, 26th October:  Pablo Picasso strides like a colossus through the art world – what made him so great?  Come along and find out and create an artwork in his iconic style!

Age:  suitable for children aged 4-13 Time:  ALL sessions morning only: 10.00 am – 1.00 pm  Place:  KidsArtStudio

Cost:  £35 per session per child

Please Note: Sessions 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10 and 11 will not be led by Barbara but by other experienced KidsArt! leaders in her absence
